Dermalux LED Phototherapy

LED Phototherapy works on the principle that living cells can absorb and respond to light.

This treatment is widely recognised for its regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a powerful tool for skin health and rejuvenation.

What is LED Phototherapy?

What is LED Phototherapy

The Dermalux Flex MD delivers safe and effective LED wavelengths deep into the skin’s layers to rejuvenate cells, reduce signs of aging, and treat conditions like acne, rosacea, and psoriasis. It also promotes overall skin health and can help alleviate muscular and joint pain.

Blue light (415nm) penetrates the skin’s surface layer, triggering a natural response to eliminate acne-causing bacteria and reduce breakouts. Clinically proven studies show that Blue 415nm light can improve or clear mild to moderate acne by up to 76% in just four weeks (Morton, 2005).

At the next layer down, Red light (633nm) is absorbed, stimulating the skin to accelerate repair and renewal. This rejuvenating wavelength effectively targets concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, redness, pigmentation, and psoriasis, while also helping to alleviate muscular and joint pain.

Red (633nm) and Near-Infrared (830nm) light have been clinically shown to improve skin texture and smoothness by up to 79% (Neil S Sadick).

At the skin’s deepest layer, Near-Infrared (830nm) light works to reduce inflammation, calm irritation, and strengthen the skin barrier. Research by Dr. H Whelan et al.  has demonstrated that this wavelength can boost cell regeneration by up to 200%.

The Dermalux Flex MD uniquely combines all three wavelengths—Blue (415nm), Red (633nm), and Near-Infrared (830nm)—simultaneously to deliver maximum cell activation for superior and long-lasting results. This advanced LED technology provides focused and concentrated light energy, ensuring optimal absorption for enhanced skin health and rejuvenation.

The Basic Steps of Dermalux LED Phototherapy

Each in-office LED light therapy session takes about 30 minutes at a time. Although there is no UV generated by the unit, You’ll need to wear protective goggles so that the intense light doesn’t cause any damage to your eyes, you should not wear any makeup during your session.

Consultation
Your session should begin with a consultation. You might fill out a form with questions about your skin concerns and check for any contraindications.

During the session

The therapist will get you to lie down on a couch and put on the protective goggles. These MUST remain on your eye's during the whole session. The therapist will then place the Dermalux Flex unit in a position to fully cover the required treatment area before starting off the unit and leaving the room. During the treatment, you can relax, doze or listen to relaxing music. If you want to bring your own wireless earbuds so you can listen to your own music during the session feel free).

The treatment will last 30 minutes and after that, the therapist will come in and remove the unit. You are then free to get up. The treatment does not require any special aftercare and you are free to continue with a normal day after the session.
